From Farm to Freezer: My Journey Into Soft Serve
At just 18 years old I started work at my first mobile soft serve business in Auckland. I soon discovered there’s something unforgettable about serving happiness from the back of an ice cream van and I was hooked. The freedom of being on the road was exhilarating. Over the years I took my passion for soft serve to Brisbane and later back to NZ in the Waikato.
But life had other plans and I spent the next 25 years committed to dairy farming. A world very different but rooted in dedication.
In 2018 the call of ice cream came knocking again. That year we purchased a Mr Whippy franchise and I got back behind the wheel of the iconic van. Being part of the brand gave me new insight into the business side of mobile treats.
Then in February 2024 I took the biggest leap yet and launched my own brand: softserve2u. Now I’m serving up soft serve under my own name living the dream one swirl at a time.
